its been a quiet couple of days for me leading up to my brothers wedding other than a family dinner for my granddads birthday and a "rehearsal" dinner for the wedding, I haven't really been up to much, mainly because these dinners have taken up most of my nights.

today will be a bit more eventful, after lunch I will have a shower, suit up and head to the wedding, where other than be there to support them in their marriage I have a reading to do, its an Apache wedding prayer and it goes like this

Now you will feel no rain,

For each will be shelter for the other.

Now you will feel no cold,

For each will be warmth for the other.

Now you will feel no loneliness,

For each of you will be a companion for the other.

Now you are two persons,

But there are three lives before you,

His life, Her life and your life together.

May beauty surround you both

On the journey ahead and through all the years.

I am a bit nervous about this, I don't really know the material that well and I am a bit shy about public speaking, but my brother and his soon to be wife have asked me to, so I will for them.

Space invaders

I got my second canvas done at work today, a green space invader on a black background. I've hung it on my wall now near the last one (a chess piece), together they have started to give my room some more character, where as before I had nothing on the walls, and no "decorations" to show people my personality.

The room is becoming less sterile and more inviting, and its starting to reflect my new found confidence in my geek-hood, from now on I will wear my heart on my sleeve and my gaming references on my wall and shirt. I'm not in school anymore and I don't have to hide the fact that I am smart, and that I like video games anymore people will accept me for who I am, because I am passionate about my hobbies and I am no longer afraid to show people the real me.

Reorganizing things at work.

We had a slower day at work today, so we took the opportunity to move things around, clean out empty boxes and reorganize where we keep things so that it generally makes more sense.

We moved all of the binding equipment and supplies into the same section, moved all of the laminating equipment and supplies together. We cleared out several draws of stuff that was just taking up space and threw out a lot of junk.

Its about time we got around to doing this we have been in the department for two weeks, and the person who initially set up the department left the store over a year ago, combined with the fact that we have slowly been adding new equipment over the last two years where things were originally may have made perfect sense, but it had become crowded and messy, the reshuffle of things also has the added benefit of making the department feel like our own, we are no longer just filling the empty shoes of our predecessors, we are making the department our own.

Open for buisness

So I was thinking about starting a blog as a place to vent some of my frustrations, offer my opinions and maybe connect to the world.

The hardest part was thinking of a name for my blog, that was unique and unused. After trying various unusual words and phrases I finally settled on Gerxlif (not a real word) as it was the only random arrangement of characters that you could pronounce but that returned no hits on google that i could think of.

I guess the next step is to make up a meaning for Gerxlif, something unusual but that doesn't already have a single word description, something like "blowing in the top of a nes cartridge to make it work", or "a stack of 17 of something". Something that doesn't necessarily need a single word description.
